(GSM) – Lazio coach Edy Reja has admitted Aleksandar Kolarov is on the verge of joining Manchester City.
The Serbian left-back has been linked with a move to the Eastlands for months now and he should serve as a replacement for Wayne Bridge as reports suggest Roberto Mancini is not convinced by the English defender.
Reja has previously said that he is expecting Kolarov to be present at pre-season training and that he doesn’t want to lose the Serbia international.
But the Lazio boss has now confessed that a deal with City is close to being announced.
“Kolarov at Manchester City? His transfer is in the finishing straight,” Reja told RaiTre.
“We are very careful about what happens around us. Some players will leave and they will be replaced by much stronger players.”
But club president Claudio Lotito has delivered a contradictory message, insisting that the Premier League outfit have yet to submit an approach in writing.
“Aleksandar is currently a player of Lazio and there is absolutely no agreement with Manchester City because I have not received any written offer,” he told lalaziosiamonoi.it.
“Until they make an offer, we cannot talk about the distance (in valuation) between the sides.”
