Manchester City are on the verge of signing Benfica defender David Luiz for a fee of €30 million.
The Citizens have already contacted Benfica regarding the 23-year-old defender and they are hoping to reach an agreement that will take the player to Eastlands in the next few days.
City tried to sign Luiz last summer but had their bid rejected by Benfica, although things have changed considerably since.
This time Benfica are prepared to sell their most prized asset, while the player himself is reportedly ready for the new challenge.
Meanwhile, David Luiz has rejected a contract extension from Benfica, thus showing that he is more inclined to leaving the Eagles than staying at the club.
Free-spending Manchester City decided to act as soon as they have been informed of the new developments and they are now hot favourites to sign the Brazilian.
