(GSM) – Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop has joined Manchester City in an emergency loan deal. Fulop said he is looking forward to help City secure a top-four place.

Shay Given has been ruled out through injury and City, who were not allowed to recall Joe Hart early from his loan spell at Birmingham, were given special dispensation by the Premier League to sign the Hungary international.

Fulop is delighted with the move ahead of his City debut against Aston Villa on Saturday. He also wished Given a speedy recovery.

“I got the call on Tuesday from City and I was more than happy to come and help the club,” the 26-year-old shot stopper told City’s official website.

“It’s fantastic to be here at such a time. It came out of the blue but I’m delighted to try to help City achieve their goal.

“I’m ready to play, if I’m selected. I came here to do a job and I’m confident that I can do that. I feel good, and we need a win to get that fourth-place spot, which is so important for the club.

“It’s an horrific injury for a goalkeeper.

“It’s a really bad one because you use your shoulders with almost every movement. I really hope that Shay recovers very soon.”
