Sunday People is reporting that Manchester City are stepping up their efforts to sign Spanish defender Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.
The Citizens have long ago expressed their interest in the Spain international as they look to seriously reinforce their back line.
And with the player unable to agree a new deal with los Blancos, Manchester City believe this is the right time to try and lure the highly rated footballer to Etihad.
Ramos may have a £41 million release clause in his contract, but he is reportedly unhappy with the conditions of his current deal.
The latest reports have suggested Real Madrid are not prepared to meet his £6.2 million per year wage demands, and City look to take advantage of the situation by offering the player yearly wage of £7.2 million.
Despite sitting no less than six points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal, Manchester City are 11/4 favourites to lift the league title.
