Manchester City midfielder Omar Elabdellaoui has joined Feyenoord on a season-long loan, the English club announced on their official website.
The Norwegian Under-21 international signed a new two-year deal with the Citizens in July and is now hoping to gain some first team experience in Dutch Eredivisie.
The 20-year-old was farmed out on loan to Norwegian side Stromsgodset last April and he made a total of 10 league appearances in the Eliteserien.
Elabdellaoui is hoping to emulate fellow Academy graduate John Guidetti, who enjoyed a very successful loan spell at De Kuyp last season.
“I spoke to John about the move and he had only good things to say about Feyenoord,” the youngster said to club’s official website.
“It’s an exciting challenge for me and it gives me the opportunity to play regular first-team football that will obviously benefit me and hopefully City as well in the long-term.”
Having achieved a second-place finish in Eredivisie last term, Feyenoord are set to take part in Champions League qualifying stages, where they have been pitted against Dynamo Kiev.
