City join race for Shaw

Manchester City the latest club to be linked with a move for Southampton full-back Luke Shaw, according to the Mirror.

The 18 year old, who is expected to be handed his first full international call-up by England manager Roy Hodgson this afternoon, already has Manchester United and Chelsea battling to secure his services and now City have thrown their hat into the ring.

United made an approach in January, but their advances were rejected by the south coast club while Chelsea appear to be leading the chase, being the side the defender supports.

Manuel Pellegrini is keen to bring in a new left-back during the summer, and has identified Shaw as their preferred choice.

Despite his young age, he is set to make his fiftieth Premier League appearance when Mauricio Pochettino’s side take on Liverpool at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon, where+ the hosts can be backed at 12/5 for the win.
