Manchester City already signed eight new players this summer but that`s still not enough, according to City Boss Mark Hughes. The Sky Blues are planning to sign two new defenders and an attacking midfielder in January when the transfer window opens again.

Hughes isn`t satisfied at all with the performances of his backs Wayne Bridge and Micah Richards and he wants to replace them with Barcelona defenders Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal.

Puyol has an expiring contract at the Camp Nou stadium and is also on Arsenal`s shopping list.

Left back Abidal is one of Barca manager Josep Guardiola`s favourites, but a serious amount of money may cause Barcelona to transfer him to the City of Manchester stadium.
