City to hijack Arsenal’s deal for Gervinho

Manchester City have emerged as hot favourites to sign Lille forward Gervinho after substantially improving their contract offer.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal were close to completing the transfer having had an £8 million offer accepted by Lille, especially as they were on the verge of agreeing the personal terms with the Ivorian.

The 25-year-old looked set to move to the Emirates after revealing that he loved Arsenal’s style of play, but everything changed when City entered the picture.

The Citizens have tried to hijack the deal by making a huge offer to the player, thus emerging as favourites to sign the Ivorian.

Losing Gervinho to City would be a major blow for Arsene Wenger, especially with Manchester United already stealing Phil Jones in front of his nose.
