Real Madrid and Manchester City have started negotiating about the transfer of Brahim Diaz from the Etihad to Santiago Bernabeu, according to various reports in Spain, but the respective valuations of the player by the two clubs differ significantly. Sport say Real are ready to part with €10million for Diaz, while City demand double that amount.
Diaz has already rejected three offers from the Premier League champions for a new contract, and Guardiola recently said the club would like him to sign for a further four or five years. However, the former Barcelona player and coach also said that ‘if he doesn’t want to stay, he’ll have to leave’.
Sport claim that the offer consists of a €3.5million per year in salary, but Diaz isn’t worried about the money. It’s the lack of game-time at City he rues, and it is believed it would be up to Real coach Santiago Solari to convince him things would be different in Madrid. The deal may be on the cards with Diaz allowed to talk to clubs outside England in January, and City might want to avoid losing him for free in the summer.
