The Daily Star has revealed that two of Manchester City’s potential targets in the January transfer window could be ready to snub them following their exit from Europe on Tuesday evening.
The Citizens of course failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, and as they finished bottom of the group – do not even enter the Europa League this campaign.
And this could have a big impact on whether Daniele De Rossi and Wesley Sneijder decide to join the English Premier League Champions.
Roberto Mancini looks set to do all he can to bring at least one of these talented midfielders to the club, but if they want European football, then they will have to look elsewhere.
However, both have high wage demands that only the likes of City might be able to afford and neither are on good terms with their currently employers – Roma and Inter Milan – so they might just want to get out of Serie A as soon as possible.
De Rossi has been a long-term target for Mancini, whilst Sneijder has only emerged as a potential candidate in recent weeks.
With the January transfer window just weeks away, we will see if the Italian can lure two more quality players to the Etihad Stadium.
