Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie is set to sign a contract extension that will tie him to the Eredivisie club until 2014.
Technical director Martin van Geel has revealed that talks with Clasie are nearing conclusion and the 20-year-old is expected to commit another three years to the club.
“The talks with Jordy are now approaching the final stage,” Van Geel told NUSport. “It is now a case of working out the smaller details of the contract.”
Clasie is a product of the Feyenoord youth system and has become a key player for the club this season, featuring in every one of his side’s league games so far.
He spent the 2010/11 campaign on-loan at Excelsior, making 32 appearances and scoring twice.
The Rotterdam-based outfit – fifth on the Eredivisie table – are also negotiating a one-year extension with 29-year-old winger Ruben Schaken. The former VVV player has been given until Thursday to reach an agreement with the club.
