Arsenal defender Gael Clichy will undergo a medical at Manchester City on Monday, according to reports from England.

The 25-year-old is believed to be on the verge of a seven-million-pound move to the Eastlands after travelling to the north-west to pay a visit to the FA Cup champions.

Liverpool were understood to be leading the chase for the France international until their efforts were jeopardised by City last week.

Clichy could be the first of many high-profile names rumoured to be preparing their departures from the Emirates after another trophy-less season.

City and Manchester United are believed to be battling for Samir Nasri’s signature, while Barcelona continue to pursue Cesc Fabregas and Nicklas Bendtner is eager to find a new club in Europe.

Robin van Persie and Manuel Almunia are also understood to be unsettled.
