(GSM) – Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy says the team will fight until the end of the current campaign to try and capture domestic glory. The Gunners are strong contenders to win the Premier League this season, for the first time in six years.

The French defender thinks that silencing the critics of Arsenal’s current inexperienced squad would be a bigger achievement than that of the 2004 squad which won the league without losing a single.

Asked if winning the league this season would match the accomplishment of 2004, Clichy told Sky Sports News, “Even more, because people really doubt Arsenal.

“With the young team we have, people were saying a lot of bad things about us.

“That is the first thing we want to do. We want to show them we are a bit more mature now and that we can compete in this league, which is the best league in the world.

“We are going to fight until the end to make something happen because this year could be our year.”
