Club Brugge’s situation can’t get much worse than now, following a very painful 5-1 defeat by Excelsior Mouscron on Saturday.
Brugge, who had already lost their previous three games, and were beaten 1-5 by Standard de Liege last week, actually had a good start this time around with Akpala opening the score after five minutes.
But Sishuba equalised on the half hour mark and a Custovic hat-trick (goals in minutes 41, 45 and 59) left Brugge in shock. Lepoint went on to make it 5-1 with a minute left to go.
As a result, the gap between leaders Anderlecht and Brugge now stands at seven points. Standard de Liege, who host Gent on Sunday, could restore their original four-points gap with Anderlecht.
