Club Brugge jumped into first place in the Belgian league while Standard de Liege dropped another two valuable points against Cercle.

Zulte-Waregem initially troubled Club Brugge’s defense and scored an opening goal through Chris Makiese in the 20th minute, but Club’s Karel Geraerts equalized in the 41st.

Vadis Odjidja Ofoe then made it 2-1 nine minutes after the break and a 79th-minute goal from Dorge Kouemaha ended the away side’s hope.

Brugge share the top spot with Sint-Truiden, but have a better goal record. Only Anderlecht, who play on Thursday, may still close the gap as well.

Defending champions Standard de Liege were held to their fifth draw in eight games. A penalty goal from Milan Jovanovic gave the home side a 1-0 lead over Cercle Brugge in the seventh minute but Bernt Evens balanced things with nine minutes to go, 1-1.
