Club president confirms Corinthians closing in on Tevez

Corinthians president Andres Sanchez confirmed that the Brazilian club are on the verge of signing Carlos Tevez.

Manchester City are looking to offload Tevez in January, with Corinthians the only serious contender for the player’s signature at the moment.

“Although many people do not believe it, Tevez is much closer to the Corinthians that you can imagine,” Sanchez said at a press conference in Sao Paulo.

“The initial offer was 40m euros and that is now 18m euros because of all the problems he has faced back in England.”

The Argentine has just been fined four weeks’ wages for the incident during the Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

Tevez would reportedly welcome a return to Corinthians, where he would be much closer to his family.
