Coach Blanc compares Gourcuff to Zidane

Head coach of Bordeaux, Laurent Blanc, has paid young midfielder Yoann Gourcuff a big compliment by stating that he can see why his young player has been compared to the great Zinedine Zidane, after a terrific goal against Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.

“Gourcuff and Zidane have a similar way of running with the ball, and both have excellent close control, often using the sole of the foot,” Blanc is quoted as having said on the Lyons’ official website. “I hope Yoann will develop his own identity but it’s impossible to stop the comparison.”
