Coach praises Russell’s defence

(GSM) – Derby County coach Johnny Metgod praised defender Russell Anderson for his fighting spirit.

The coach believes Scottish international Anderson’s defending and his influence on the rest of the defence have been instrumental in the teams decent run of results that have pulled them away from the relegation places.

“If you look at the way we have been battling and, in that sense, Russell Anderson is your perfect example because he just gives everything he has got,” Metgod told.

Coach said, “Every time he puts a challenge in, whether it is in the air or on the ground, he always tries his best ,”

“If you are able to do that as four individuals in a back four, then you will make life very hard for teams,” he said.

“And if the midfield four can do the same, then it gets harder and harder for the opposition,” he shared his idea.
