PSV Eindhoven manager Phillip Cocu expects both Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum to leave the Philips Stadion when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.
Depay, the subject of a £14.5 million from Tottenham Hotspur, is the top goal scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie, and scored an absolute screamer in the 4-1 title-clinching win over Heerenveen on Saturday.
According to reports, Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in the Holland international, but the latter club have already made an approach for the player.
“We have had a telephone call from them about him,” PSV technical director Marcel Brands said on Dutch television.
“But no talks have been held yet. There are several top clubs who have expressed an interest.
“It will be much higher than the offer from Tottenham Hotspur. He will be very expensive.”
Meanwhile, PSV boss is expecting to be without the services of the aforementioned Depay and captain Georginio Wijnaldum next season.
Wijnaldum has tallied 12 goals and three assists in 30 league appearances (29 starts) for the Dutch champions this term.
“The chance is really good that they’ll both go,” Cocu said. “But I do hope we’ll be able to keep the rest of the team. A few mutations are not so bad but there must not be too many.”
Other possible mutations, i.e. players who may leave PSV, include Adam Maher (seven goals and five assists in 28 league fixtures), Jetro Willems (one goal and 12 assists in 27 league appearances in 2014/15) and Luciano Narsingh (five goals and 10 assists in 30 Eredivisie matches).
Daily Mail columnist Martin Samuel believes Manchester United will win the English Premier League title in 2015/16 if they sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer.
United, despite falling to Chelsea at Stamford on Saturday, have won six of their last seven league fixtures, and are currently sitting in third-place in the EPL table.
“I think Manchester United could possibly win the league next season,” Samuel said.
“But if they get Gareth Bale, they will definitely win the league. They are the upcoming team.
“If you look at the round robin between the top five, United are Chelsea are neck and neck.
“If you look at Chelsea, they finished top of that group last season, and that was the sign that they were coming back up to the top.
“Against the Champions League clubs, they took 16 out of 18 points. That’s a good sign, as it shows you can match the best.
“The next step is to work out how you can become consistent against the rest of them and that’s what Chelsea did this season
“Last season they were losing games we didn’t think they should lose. This season they have changed that and won the league.
“If Manchester United had not been beaten home and away by Swansea, where would they be?”
Bale has bagged 13 goals and seven assists in 28 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid this season.
