Benfica full-back Fabio Coentrao has arrived to Madrid where he will sign a long-term contract subject to passing a medical.
As Marca reports, Benfica have already informed Securities and Exchange Commission that the cost of the transfer is €30 million.
The transfer fee could be lowered by some €10 million if Ezequiel Garay agrees a switch to Benfica.
Florentino Perez also arrived to Santiago Bernabeu around 2 p.m. and is expected to sign the agreement with the Portuguese in the coming hours.
Premiership side Chelsea were also in the race for Coentrao’s signature, but his desire to work with Jose Mourinho eventually gave Real Madrid the upper hand.
It was confirmed yesterday that the Portugal international hadn’t traveled with Benfica to the training camp in Nyon, which hinted that a move to Real was close to fruition.
