Real Madrid are drafting a new contract for Portuguese full-back Fabio Coentrao, El Confidencial has revealed.
The Portugal international has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the club having struggled for playing time, but his status seems to have changed of late.
Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti sees him as an important member of the squad and has instructed the club chiefs to ensure he remains at Santiago Bernabeu beyond the current season.
Club officials also wants Coentrao to stay in order to keep superstar Cristiano Ronaldo happy as the Portuguese duo has become very close friends of late.
Meanwhile, Manchester United, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have been showing interest in the highly rated defender, with the player yet to make a decision on his future.
However, with Coentrao recently winning back the regular starting berth from Marcelo, the 26-year-old might just decide to remain at Santiago Bernabeu and accept the new contract offer.
