(GSM) – Portugal left-back Fabio Coentrao has been ruled out of his side’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Norway on Tuesday night.
The 22-year-old Benfica defender injured his right thigh in Friday’s opening qualifier with Cyprus, which ended in a 4-4 draw.
Coentrao, who was part of the Portuguese disappointing World Cup campaign this summer, has caught the eye of many with his excellent displays.
This is even though Carlos Quieroz’s men crashed out 1-0 to neighbours Spain in the second round of the tournament, receiving criticism back home.
Coentrao underwent scans on Saturday following the Cyprus clash the previous night, and it was decided he would not play against Norway.
