Cole set for new contract

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Ashley Cole will be offered a new contract with the club, according to the Metro.

The England international’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, though he will be offered an extension despite being out of the side currently due to the form of Cesar Azpilicueta.

The former Arsenal left-back had, like his teammate Samuel Eto’o, been linked with a move to the MLS, but now looks likely to see out his career at Stamford Bridge.

Since moving from North to West London in 2006, Cole has made 324 appearances, and has won eight major trophies including four FA Cups, the Premier League and the Champions League.

His manager has confirmed that he will start in tomorrow’s final group game against Steaua Bucharest, where the Blues can be backed at 1/5 to take the three points that will guarantee them top spot in Group E.
