Bundesliga outfit Cologne have signed German defender Christopher Schorch from the Real Madrid reserves.

Schorch joined Real from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2007 and played for the reserve side in the third Spanish division.

The 20-year-old received a four-year contract, the Bundesliga club said Tuesday.

While no details were given of the deal, the signing comes after an overdrive by the Cologne based club, which has seen Lukas Podolski, Sebastian Freis and Maniche arrive at the club.

Cologne finished 9th last season, in the Bundesliga.
