Six weeks after he collapsed during a Bundesliga game Cologne captain Umit Ozat is recovering well, the club said Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Turkey defender collapsed after 35 minutes of play in Cologne's 2-0 win at Karlsruhe at the end of August, but he later regained consciousness in hospital.
An inflammation of his heart muscles was later found to be the cause.
Since his collapse the full-back has been treated at Hanover's Medical University, where he has been put through his paces on the running track under medical supervision, and doctors are pleased with his progress.
“I am pleased that everything is going so well and I am hoping to make a healthy return as soon as possible,” Ozat told the Cologne website.
