Competition: World Cup
Market: Columbia win
Odds: 4/6 @ Bet 365
Japan and Colombia meet in the opening game of Group H at the World Cup finals, with El Tricolor and the Samurai Blue battling for a strong start in Russia.
Tipped by many as the front-runners to top Group H later this month, Colombia will be hoping to replicate the same form that saw them breeze through the 2014 World Cup finals and even beat fellow South Americans Uruguay in the last 16. While they may be coming off the back of consecutive 0-0 draws with fellow finalists Egypt and Australia, we do believe that José Pékerman’s side will have to much firepower come kick off. Leading the line for El Tricolor will be Bayern Munich’s James Rodríguez along with Radamel Falcao and Villarreal’s Carlos Bacca.
As for The Samurai Blue, although Akira Nishino’s side have been far more active than their opponents on Tuesday over the past two months, Japan have been drastically short of form and have now picked up just one win in 2018. Coming up against an eye-catching Colombian attack, Japan’s recent defensive issues will not fill their traveling fans with confidence. The Samurai Blue have now failed to register a single clean sheet in their last seven outings and even more worrying for Nishino’s side, they have now shipped eight goals in their last four.
