In a real battle at the foot of the Eastern Conference, a resurgent Columbus Crew will welcome FC Cincinnati to Ohio in the early hours of Sunday.

Starting with the hosts, although Columbus Crew might still sit some way off the play-off positions in the Eastern Conference, Caleb Porter’s side are enjoying by far their brightest run of form. Picking up a very eye-catching 1-1 draw away at a high-flying San Jose last weekend, they are now enjoying a four-match unbeaten run and have really started to pull away from Sunday’s opponents at the foot of the East. Also picking up a surprise 3-2 win away at the Red Bull Arena last month, the Crew also bagged a 2-1 win over Montreal in their last appearance in Ohio and they should be extremely confident of extending that tally in the early hours of Sunday.

As for the visitors, while Columbus might be enjoying a purple patch in America’s top-tier, that same cannot be said for a Cincinnati side low on both confidence and form. Coming off the back of a 2-1 loss at home to fellow strugglers Vancouver over the weekend, a match that was labeled to be their biggest challenge of the season, caretaker boss Yoann Damet has seen his men lose their last four MLS outings on the spin and they now sit eight points adrift of Sunday’s hosts at the foot of the Eastern Conference. Conceding two or more goals in each of their previous four defeats, we’re backing a routine victory for Columbus this weekend.
