Reports in France on Tuesday suggested Real Madrid had beaten Liverpool in the race for young AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni, claiming the midfielder had informed his closest people he had chosen the Spanish giants over the English ones. Even Liverpool Echo reported the same.
However, over in Spain, Marca are saying that Real have no intention of paying €80 million for the services of the 22-year-old, so it seems the race is actually not over yet. They also say Paris Saint-Germain have expressed an interest as well, planning to restructure their midfield ranks to an extent.
Apparently, Tchouameni wanted to move to the Premier League when Real Madrid asked him to remain one more season at Monaco. This the young Frenchman wouldn’t do, keen for a scenery change, and with Real’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe going down the drain, they’ve made Tchouameni one of their priorities. But they feel €80m is too much and plan on negotiating a lower free, which is something Liverpool and PSG might take advantage of.
