Everton forward Denis Stracqualursi has revealed that he is growing in confidence after initially struggling at Goodison Park.
Goals tend to have that effect on players, with Stracqualursi having bagged three goals in his last five games in all competitions for the Toffees.
Furthermore, it’s no coincidence that Stracqualursi’s last five games, in which he has bagged three goals, have all been starts.
Not only is Stracqualursi getting more confident game by game, but Everton boss David Moyes is also growing more and more confident in the Argentine striker.
“When I first got here, it was difficult to adapt to the different style of football,” Stracqualursi told reporters.
“But now I’m getting games and getting time, I’m scoring goals and that’s the main thing for a forward.
“I’m very happy with the goal. It’s very important for forwards to score goals for confidence. The main thing, though, is that we won. It’s a team effort.”
Stracqualursi’s purple patch has coincided with Everton’s best run in form of the season. Again, not a coincidence.
The Toffees are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, including wins over English Premier League leaders Manchester City and giants Chelsea.
Everton’s next game will be on March 3 against Queens Park Rangers, with Stracqualursi insisting that the club continue their good form despite the extra time off.
“It is a bad thing, although in a way it could be a good thing for the players who are injured to recover,” he told Evertontv.
“But the next time we play we need to put the same effort in and keep on going.
“There’s a lot of confidence in the team and we need to keep it up and take it into the next games.”
The Toffees cracking form of late has seen them rise to 10th place in the English Premier League, having tallied 33 points in 25 league fixtures.
As usual, Everton have been one of the toughest teams to score on in the Premier League in 2011-12, conceding just 27 goals in 25 games.
However, the Toffees have struggled putting the ball in the back of the net, netting 26 times in 25 games.
Subsequently, Everton will surely milk Stracqualursi’s form and hope he can continue doing great things for the club while on loan from Tigres.
If Stracqualursi continues to score goals for fun, will Everton sign him permanently?
I think so. After all, why wouldn’t David Moyes want to sign a strong center-forward with great goal-scoring and technical prowess?
