It was a rumour for quite while and now it is confirmed. Maurizio Sarri is the new manager of Juventus after leaving Chelsea and putting pen-to-paper on a three year deal with the Italian champions. Juventus have therefore found their solution for Massimilliano Allegri’s departure after another season without European success.
The 60-year-old replaces Allegri at the Allianz Stadium after an odd, but successful campaign at Chelsea. He led the Blues to Europa League trophy and third place in the Premier League, which meant return to Champions League football. After just one season in the English capital, he returns to Italy where he will lead the best Serie A club.
“Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League”, said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.
