Southampton have confirmed that they have completed the signing of Che Adams from Birmingham City.
The Saints had been linked with the talented striker towards the end of the season, and it apparently took some time and several attempts to get the deal over the line. The 23-year-old is a versatile attacking player, the second of the kind to arrive at St. Mary’s this summer, following the club’s acquisition of Mousa Djenopo.
Adams started his professional football path at Sheffield Wednesday, where he spent two years before moving to Birmingham. He scored 38 goals in 123 appearances for Birmingham, and was not only named in the EFL Team of the Year, but was also shortlisted for the Championship Player of the Year.
Southampton apparently beat off competition from other Premier League clubs for his services, and manager Ralf Ralph Hasenhuttl believes his desire to join the Saints ahead of other options is a testament of the reputation the club have built for the development of young players.
