Conor Gallagher to leave Chelsea for Atletico Madrid

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist has claimed that Gallagher has agreed a five-year contract with Atletico and will undergo a medical on Wednesday.

Romano wrote on X: “Conor Gallagher to Atlético Madrid, here we go! After late night exclusive news on his green light to Atléti, there’s ok for his move from clubs.

“Five year contract for Gallagher, €42m as fee to Chelsea for the English midfielder. Medical booked WEDNESDAY.”

Gallagher has been on the books of Chelsea since 2008 and established himself in the first team after coming through the London club’s youth academy. The 24-year-old has scored 18 goals and given 13 assists in 136 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. Atletico finished fourth in the La Liga table last season, while Chelsea ended up sixth in the Premier League standings.
