According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte has said he didn’t join Tottenham because the club “didn’t convince him”.
Conte, who left Inter Milan in the wake of their Serie A title success last season, seemed to be edging closer and closer towards joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Instead, though, the move fell through, and both parties are pretty much back to square one.
Tottenham are in a tough spot right now with many neutral fans believing they don’t have a chance when it comes to succeeding in both the Premier League and in Europe next season. Still, even after all that they’ve been through, the idea of Conte heading there felt realistic – if only because the challenge is so steep.
Conte will likely find another job elsewhere given how high his stock is after winning the title with Inter in such convincing fashion last season.
