According to a recent report from Daily Mirror, Antonio Conte is open to the idea of becoming Manchester United manager.
The belief is that Conte wants to see “willingness” to win the Champions League, whatever that may mean, before fully committing to the idea of heading to Old Trafford.
It comes on the heels of the club’s humbling 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday that put even more pressure on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While fans can talk about how nice he is as a person and how many elite-level transfers he’s managed to make, they can’t point to any kind of sustained success on the pitch.
Manchester United have been through some tough times before but this really does feel like a turning point for the club. If they’re serious about contending for the title again in the next few years, this is the kind of managerial shift they need to give serious consideration.
