Bayern Munich defender Diego Contento could be joining Werder Bremen this summer, according to his representative.
The Weserstadion outfit recently expressed their desire to sign the highly rated full-back, but it was believed they would have a hard time trying to persuade the Bavarians to let him go.
However, it appears that a season-long loan is a realistic possibility, with the player clearly interested in a switch to Bremen.
“There is contact with Werder,” agent Lugwig Kogl explained to Bild. “Werder still have a decent team. For Diego, it is important he plays regular football.”
With David Alaba in front of him in the pecking order, it is hardly surprising the 23-year-old is looking to leave Alianz Arena in search of first team football.
Contento has been showing a lot of potential over the last couple of years and he has so far amassed no less than 39 Bundesliga appearances, having started the majority of those games.
Bayern officials might be prepared to consider allowing him to leave on loan, but outright transfer seems to be out of question.
