(GSM) – Algeria coach Rabah Saadane is set to extend his contract by two years until the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations after reaching an agreement.
The 64-year-old, who has been in charge of Algeria since 2007, took the African nation to the World Cup in South Africa where they failed to score a single goal in their three games.
After his third stint with the national side, Saadane may have been rewarded for taking them to the World Cup for the first time since 1986 when he was also in charge.
While, a draw against England in South Africa was seen as a good result for the Desert Foxes, Saadane will continue to work with his assistants Djelloul Zohir and Hacene Belahdji as the Algerians prepare for the qualifiers of the Nations Cup co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Algeria are grouped alongside Morocco, Tanzania and the Central African Republic for the qualifiers with only the top team making it through.
