Contract situation not a concern for Everton boss Moyes

Everton boss David Moyes is in the final year of his contract with the Merseyside club.

A new contract has yet to be agreed with the Scot but he doesn’t seem concerned by the situation  and has stated that he will just get on with his job.

Unconcerned

The Scot told Sky Sports: “ I don’t think the managers’ contract is that important, it is more important we get the players sorted,”

“It is not desperate. I have a contract here and I am more than happy. It certainly doesn’t affect my work. I told everyone (at the end of the last season) I was getting on with my job and that is what would be happening and I’m looking forward to adding more to the squad.”

Speculation

There had been speculation over Moyes future with the Scot being linked to the Tottenham and Aston Villa hot seats. However Moyes has stayed with the Toffee’s and has ignored the speculation surrounding his future at Everton.

Third

David Moyes is the third longest serving manager at a Premier League club, after Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger and there is a reason for that, he has done an exceptional job under challenging circumstances.

Determined

The former-Preston boss seems determined to succeed at Everton and win silverware. The historic club has came on leaps and bounds under Moyes but silverware has eluded him in his decade in charge of the Toffee’s.

He has came close on a number of occasions but the team has failed to perform on the big stage. The latest attempt a 2-1 FA Cup semi-final defeat to bitter-rivals Liverpool last season must have been extremely disappointing for Moyes.

Active

David Moyes has a good group of players at his disposal and is actively looking at adding more quality players to his squad. Moyes has already secured the signature of free agent Steven Naismith. The 25 year-old former-Rangers forward could prove to be a bargain.

He has shown for Rangers that he has quality and is also very versatile. Whether he can make the step up in standard from SPL to the Premier League remains to be seen. However he does look like another very shrewd David Moyes signing.

With money tight at Everton Moyes is looking at bringing in more free agents. The Toffee’s are currently being linked with former-Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega, former-Bayern full-back Daniel Pranjic and Blackburn youngster Junior Hoilett.

All three would be good additions to the Everton squad, with only Hoilett likely to command a fee of any sort. Rovers are likely to get a development fee for the highly-rated winger but that’s likely to only be a small amount.

I’m sure Moyes knows which players he has in mind to improve his squad. He was scouting players at the Euro’s and he is likely to act in the next few weeks in strengthening his already talented squad.

Staying

Speculation continues over the futures of England left-back Leighton Baines and midfield star Marouane Fellaini. Both players have been linked with big money moves this summer but as Moyes revealed yesterday nobody has bid for any of his top players.

The Scot won’t want to lose any of his top players this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for the European places next season.

Success

Every season it has got harder for David Moyes to do his job at Everton. It’s the same old story. Other teams spend big money and Everton spend hardly anything and still finish in the top ten of the Premier League every season.

David Moyes has been a major success at Everton and I really wouldn’t back against him and his team finishing in the top six of the Premier League next season.

Which players should Everton bring in this summer?
