Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage is adamant that the contract situation of Adama Traore has nothing to do with his decision to leave the winger out of the starting XI in recent matches.
Traore has been dazzling the football public with pace, creativity and superb dribbling skills for years, and his undoubtable talent has attracted the attentions of many clubs. Liverpool, Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have all been credited with interest in his services. His current deal expires in 2023 and he has so far refused to sign a new one.
The 25-year-old sat out the entire win over Everton last week on the bench, and he was introduced as a substitute in the defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
However, when asked about Traore not starting after the Palace game, Lage explained his decision in a way that made it perfectly clear it had nothing to do with the contract situation or the speculations about the winger’s future.
