Spanish giants Real Madrid thrashed Levante 8-0 in the first leg of their last-16 Copa del Rey tie at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo each scored hat-tricks, while Mesut Ozil and Pedro Leon also got on the scoresheet as Real coasted to victory.

Sevilla twice came from a goal down to beat Malaga 5-3 at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The hosts led early after Alfaro netted in the 11th minute, but a seven-minute double from Salomon Rondon gifted Malaga the lead.

Negredo equalised for the 11th-placed La Liga outfit, before Quincy Owusu-Abeyie restored Malaga’s lead four minutes before half-time.

Christian Romaric then found the back of the net twice in 14 minutes to turn Sevilla’s deficit into a 4-3 lead, before Capel ensured the hosts victory with an 82nd-minute goal.

A Leonardo Ulloa hat-trick helped Almeria to a 4-3 win over Mallorca.

The 17th-placed La Liga outfit upstaged their 10th-placed opponents in the top flight, courtesy of the Argentine striker’s treble.

Getafe accounted for Spanish second division leaders Real Betis 2-1 courtesy of Miku and Pedro Rios first-half goals.

Jorge Molina scored an 87th-minute penalty for Real Betis, which could become crucial for when the sides meet again for their second leg.

A Simao penalty ensured Atletico Madrid saluted 1-0 over Espanyol at Estadio Vicente Calderon.

Both sides finished with 10-men however, with Reyes dismissed for Atletico in the 42nd minute before Victor Ruiz was given his marching orders in the 67th minute for Espanyol.
