Vasco da Gama will take a slender advantage into the second leg of the Copa Do Brasil final after a 1-0 win over Coritiba in the first leg.
Playing at the Estadio Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama, Coritiba went close to opening the scoring in the first half when Bill’s long range effort forced a good save from Vasco goalkeeper Fernando Prass.
But the home side took the lead shortly after half time when Alecsandro headed in a cross from the right.
Vasco came close to doubling their lead later in the second half, but Felipe Bastos put his long-range free kick just over the bar.
The game finished 1-0 to leave the Vasco fans dreaming of a first ever Copa do Brasil title.
The Rio side will now be favourites to finish the job in Parana in the second leg on Thursday.
