High-flying Lazio defeated Albinoleffe 3-0 in the fourth round of the Coppa Italia on Thursday to set up a derby against arch-rivals Roma in the last 16.
Lazio boss Edy Reja fielded a second-string line-up against the Serie B side and it was former Manchester City fullback Javier Garrido who put the hosts in front with his first goal for the club 16 minutes in at the Stadio Olimpico.
Guglielmo Stendardo converted a cross by Pasquale Foggia to make it two on the stroke of half-time, before Simone Del Nero beat Albinoleffe goalkeeper Stefano Layeni to grab the third five minutes before the final whistle.
The match was marred by racial abuse from sections of the Lazio fans directed against Layeni, a former Como player of Nigerian descent.
Bologna defeated Cagliari 3-0 away from home in the first of two all-Serie A clashes.
Riccardo Meggiorini opened the scoring in the 32nd minute at the Stadio Sant’Elia, before late strikes from Gaston Ramirez and Henry Gimenez sealed a comprehensive win for the visiting side.
Catania hammered Brescia 5-1 at the Stadio Angelo Massimino to book their spot in the last 16.
Raphael Martinho put the home team in front 13 minutes in, before second-half strikes from Simone Pesce, Mirco Antenucci and a brace from former Barcelona man Maxi Lopez completed the rout.
