Antonio Floro Flores scored a goal in the 119th minute of extra time as Udinese beat Lecce 2-1 in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.

Lecce came to the Stadio Friuli with high hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the competition and were given a boost when Ernesto Chevanton opened the scoring for the visitors on 17 minutes.

Udinese fought hard for an equaliser in front of their home fans and were eventually rewarded when Bernardo Corradi scored from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining.

Neither side could muster a winner in regular time and it looked like the match was destined for penalties until Flores intervened in the 119th minute to send Udinese through.

In Wednesday’s other match, Genoa pulled off a late comeback to beat Serie B side Vicenza 3-1 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The second tier side looked like they would cause an upset after Latif Salifu had given them a 63rd minute lead, but Genoa were awarded a late penalty which was converted by Luca Toni in the 87th minute to send the match into extra time.

There the home side took over, with Toni scoring almost immediately after the restart and Mattia Destro adding a third on 95 minutes to seal the victory.
