Coquelin and Akpom pen new Gunners deals

Arsenal have handed new long term deals to Francis Coquelin and Chuba Akpom, according to the Mail Online.

Coquelin has been rewarded with a new four-and-a-half year deal after impressing since returning from a loan spell with Charlton Athletic two months ago.

The 23 year old was part of the squad that won the Premier Academy League with the Gunners in 2009, though he has spent much of his time since then out on loan with spells at Lorient and Freiburg before moving to The Valley back in November.

Akpom, who has extended his stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2019, has made five appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side in all competitions so far this season, and has previously gained experience in brief spells with Brentford and Coventry City.

Arsenal travel to local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, and can be backed at 13/10 to take all three points.
