Copa Libertadores champions Corinthians have confirmed reports they are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Nene.
Despite the number of high-profile signings, the 30-year-old proved to be the stand out performer last season at Parc des Princes, having scored 21 goals in 35 Ligue 1 games.
However, with the player entering the final year of his contract he has been heavily linked with a summer exit, especially after the club chiefs opted against offering the Brazilian a contract extension.
The highly rated forward is now attracting interest from Corinthians, according to the sporting director of the Brazilian club.
“We have not made an offer (for Nene). We talked through a friend who told us he wanted to return,” Roberto de Andrade said at a press conference.
Nene enjoyed a short spell with Corinthians before moving to Paulista, where he began his professional career.
The player’s position at Paris Saint-Germain is in danger now that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to sign for the Saints and he is could request a transfer this summer.
