Corinthians seek Tevez bargain

Corinthians president Andres Sanchez says that Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is on the verge of rejoining the Brazilian giants at cut price.

Sanchez claims that Tevez’s new transfer value must reflect the controversies that have beset the Argentine in the last two months.

Corinthians have been long-term admirers of their former player and attempted to sign him in the recent transfer window before being deterred by a large transfer fee.

With relations having disintegrated between Tevez and City after the Argentine allegedly refused to come off the bench against Bayern Munich, Corinthians have redoubled their efforts to sign the marquee striker.

And Sanchez believes that this time they have a chance to buy Tevez for far less than the 40 million euros City recently sought for the player.

“Tevez has one foot in Corinthians, even if a lot of people don’t believe it,” Sanchez told reporters.

“He is not worth 40 million euros. Now you would pay around 18m euros after all the trouble he has faced in England.”

Tevez was fined four weeks’ wages by City on Monday for his transgression during the Bayern match.
