The Brazilian Serie A title is on the line for Corinthians as they take on fellow Brazilian giants Vasco da Gama on Sunday.
With just two games remaining, Corinthians are one point behind league leaders Fluminense – who travel to Palmeiras on Sunday – and a loss against Vasco in Sao Paolo could signal the end of their title challenge.
In their first meeting this season, Vasco came away 2-0 winners thanks to strikes from Ze Roberto and Eder Luis, but Corinthians lead the overall head-to-head between the clubs with 40 wins from their 102 meetings.
Corinthians will be reinforced for the crucial fixture with the return of Dentinho and Bruno Cesar, who both return from suspension.
But Brazilian midfielder Elias is suspended and talisman Ronaldo is doubtful with a muscle injury.
With 46 points, Vasco are safe from the threat of relegation and now have their sights on a place in next year’s Copa Sudamericana.
