(GSM) – Corinthians went top of the Campeonato Brasileiro on Sunday after their 2-1 win at Grêmio left them the only side with maximum points in two games.

Ralf fired Corinthians in front after just five minutes in Porto Alegre, but they were unable to extend their lead in the remainder of the first half.

But a goal on 64 minutes by Souza put Corinthians up 2-0 to seal the win, though Maylson’s goal with 15 minutes to play made it a tense finish for the visitors.

Elsewhere, São Paulo suffered their first home defeat to Botafogo since 1999 as they dropped a 2-1 result.

Léo Lima got São Paulo off to a dream start at the Morumbi when he fired the home side in front after eight minutes.

But Antônio Carlos equalized for Botafogo 20 minutes later to set up a very nervy match that would go down to the wire.

Despite the home side enjoying some good chances, it was Botafogo that stunned the home crowd with five minutes to play as Renato Cajá fired in the winner past Rogério Ceni.
