Croatian defender Vedran Corluka has vowed to remain at Bayer Leverkusen after his loan deal expires at the end of the season.
Tottenham loaned the highly rated full-back to the German side on transfer deadline day in January after the player had persuaded boss Harry Redknapp to let him leave the club in order to keep his Euro 2012 hopes alive.
The Croatian international has enjoyed a promising start to his career at Bay Arena and it looks as though he is not willing to return to White Hart Lane.
Corluka reveals that Bayer Leverkusen have the option to make his loan deal permanent at the end of the season.
“The truth is that my deal at Tottenham expires in 2014, so I could go back to London,” Corluka told Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List.
“But Bayer have the option to buy me in the summer and if the two clubs reach an agreement, I can’t see any reason why I shouldn’t stay in Germany.”
The 26-year-old decided to leave Tottenham in search of first team football after playing just three Premier League games this season.
The Croat had a pretty good start to his career in Germany, having started his first five games for the club, but he has missed last few weeks of action through injury.
