Vedran Corluka has criticised the decision to appoint Howard Webb as referee for Croatia’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Greece.
The Tottenham Hotspur defender was outspoken in his view that Webb, who took charge of last year’s World Cup final, has given both his club and country a rough run with decisions.
Croatia go into Friday’s match at Greece knowing that a win would see them automatically qualify for the tournament next summer, but Corluka is hoping that the performance of Webb does not make it any harder than it ought to be.
“Almost every time I get at the game when Webb was in charge, I have had negative experiences,” Corluka told SportskeNovosti.
“He was referee at some Tottenham games and almost every time he wasn’t good for us. Especially against Manchester United. I hope that this time it will be different.”
