Costa Rica beat nine-man Guatemala 3-1 on Sunday to secure a spot at July’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Both sides missed penalties in the first half, but Costa Rica did hit the net through Alvaro Sanchez on 33 minutes. However, a Minor Lopez header levelled things in the 56th.
But Costa Rica replied immediately as Roberto Segura scored twice in two minutes to decide the clash.
With six points from two games, Costa Rica secure qualification from Group B. Honduras are already through from Group A and three more spots are up for grabs.
Hosts United States qualify automatically. Canada and Mexico will appear at the tournament as well, just like Cuba, Guadeloupe, Grenada and Jamaica who all qualified from the Caribbean zone.
